Photo exhibition of Rachel Jenkins during Amsterdam Fashion Week. She drew our attention at the graduation show of the 2007 masters at the Design Academy Eindhoven. The project with which she became an Art Director, is a magazine called 'Guche'. In it, Jenkins, who is half Mozambican and half Irish,  reflects on Mozambican youth culture. As Mozambique can not invest into cultural or social youth projects, young people are influenced mainly by Western media. Thus, the youth in the capital Maputo,  aim to authorize themselves within a 'culture' where they are not even recognized. Writes Jenkins: " I want the Mozambican youth to gain self-belief & become active leaders in our local culture within the modern, more global, context."
Her design offers a new 'language' conveying a message of hope and ultimately catalyzing and encouraging the youth to be leaders
