The Politiek Café Foundation is proud to announce the first International Political Café about Cultural Diversity in the United States at the Carlton Ambassador Hotel in The Hague. The speakers will take place in a panel consisting of Pete Ito, Deputy US Delegation to the OPCW, Jay Heung, Economic Officer US Embassy and Ms. Marion Ekpuk, Press Attaché, US Embassy.
The International Political Café is held once a month at the Carlton Ambassador Hotel, Sophialaan 2 in The Hague. The doors open at 7.45pm and at 8.15pm there will be an introduction of 15 minutes by the speaker on a given subject followed by 45 minutes of discussion. Afterwards there will be an opportunity to continue the discussion more informally over a drink.

About the speakers:
Mr. Pete K. Ito
Mr. Pete K. Ito is the Deputy of the U.S. Delegation to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. Mr. Ito has been in his current position since 2003. He began his Foreign Service career in 1982, and has served as a consular officer in Seoul and then as a consular and political officer in Copenhagen. He was a staff assistant for the Assistant Secretary for Political-Military Affairs and then handled Northeast Asian security policy issues in the PM Bureau. He worked on the German desk, serving as the last desk officer responsible for the German Democratic Republic. He was subsequently a political-military affairs officer in Bonn and then an analyst in the Bureau of Intelligence and Research. Mr. Ito returned to Copenhagen, working as the political-military affairs officer and then as the Counselor for Political and Economic Affairs. He then headed the political-military affairs section in Berlin before moving to The Hague to assume his current duties. Mr. Ito was born in Lodi, California. He received a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley (1978) and a law degree (1981) and a Masters in International Affairs (1982) from George Washington University. He is married to the former Riana Booyens.
Jason (Jay) Heung
Mr. Heung joined the Foreign Service in 2005. He is currently serving in U.S. Embassy in The Hague, The Netherlands on his first tour as the Deputy Head of the Economic Section. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Mr. Heung worked for eight years as a management consultant for Management Analysis, Inc. (1998-2000), Andersen (2000-2001), and RGS, Inc.(2001-2005). Mr. Heung specialized in running public-private competitions, improving organizational efficiency, and activity-based costing. Mr. Heung also worked in international business development for Rockwell International (1996-1998). Mr. Heung was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1973, but moved shortly thereafter to Hong Kong, where he grew up. Upon graduating from Hong Kong’s King George V School in 1990, he emigrated to the United States to attend college and has Bachelor’s Degrees in Economics and International Relations from the University of Oregon (1995). Mr. Heung also has a Master’s Degree in International Affairs and Economics from Georgetown University’s Schools of Foreign Service and Economics (1997).
Bryan Olthof
Bryan Olthof joined the Foreign Service in 2003. He is currently serving in U.S. Embassy in The Hague, The Netherlands on his second tour. His first tour was in San Jose, Costa Rica. Bryan was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1974. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University (1996) and a Master’s Degree in the same subject from the University of California at Berkely (1998).
